- What is a Workforce Development Board?
Workforce Development Boards bring together representatives from business, community-based organizations, education, economic development, labor and other critical groups to rethink and restructure the way local workforce development services are planned and delivered. WDB’s are charged with helping customers, through the One Stop delivery system, to achieve their potential; ensures employers have the skilled workers they need to compete effectively in the global economy; and capitalize on the untapped potential of unemployed, underemployed, and discouraged workers, youth and other job seekers with special needs.
- How is the Workforce Development Board funded?
State and federal dollars fund the Workforce Development Board (WDB). The WDB addresses issues of funding, including the creation of private/public partnerships to apply for competitive grants.
- What is the Youth Council and what role does it have with the Workforce Development Board?
The Youth Council makes recommendations to the Monterey County Workforce Development Board (WDB) regarding youth programs and proposals for funding, provides oversight of Workforce Investment Act (WIA) Title I youth programs, and fosters collaboration and integration of youth activities throughout Monterey County.

All meetings of the WDB and its various committees are free and open to the public. In addition, all minutes of WDB and it’s subcommittee meetings are made accessible shortly after each meeting, and archived on the WDB’s website located at: www.montereycountyWDB.org/meetings/

The Monterey County Workforce Development Board serves the geographic boundaries of Monterey County. The WDB serves as one of the 49 local boards throughout the State of California.
