Monterey County Labor Force Analysis – 2013 (1.37 MB)
In this labor force analysis report, Applied Development Economics (ADE) analyzes the latest employment trends, projections, occupational staffing patterns for jobs in Monterey County. This report includes 2012 to 2017 employment data by detailed North American Industry Classification System (NAICS) codes from the Economic Modeling Specialists Intl. (EMSI) dataset. The report is intended to assist the Monterey County WDB to prepare its Five-Year Local Plan.



Regional Clusters of Opportunity: Report DRAFT 2011 (2.09 MB)
The purpose of this study was to analyze the employment needs, economic status, and training issues in Monterey County’s four major hospitals. Presented to the California Workforce Development Board on behalf of the Workforce Collaborative of California’s Central Coast (W4C) May 2011. The purpose of this report is to document what has been learned and developed over the last 14 months as the W4C partners have embarked upon the Regional Industry Clusters of Opportunity: Green Initiative for the Central Coast.

In 2010, CHA again surveyed hospitals statewide to gather up-to-date data regarding the effects of the economy on the demand for allied health professionals in the short term, and to identify hospital workforce needs and concerns in the next one, three and five years. This report highlights key findings from the 2010 survey and recommends strategies to address the long-term need for these professionals.

The Labor Market Information Division (LMID) of the Employment Development Department (EDD) now produces a publication containing local Help Wanted OnLine (HWOL) data for California’s 28 Metropolitan Statistical Areas (MSAs). Help Wanted OnLineTM (HWOL) Local Area Data compares the number of unemployed persons and the number of available job ads in the area; and highlights the top ten employers with the most job ads in the local area, the top ten occupations with the most job ads in the local area, and the cities within the MSA with the most job ads.

California Occupational Guides
The Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS) has translated information published for 100 occupations in their Occupational Outlook Handbook (OOH), 2010-2011 Edition (www.bls.gov/oco) into Spanish. The Spanish edition is only available online, and has the same Web site format as the English version. The 100 occupations featured in the Spanish Edition were matched to the type of employment, median wage, and education and training levels representative of native Spanish speakers and bilingual customers.
