The Workforce Development Board (WIB) was established through the federal Workforce Investment Act (WIA) of 1998 and is designated by the Monterey County Board of Supervisors to develop broad strategic policy for the county's workforce development and economic interests, assist businesses in finding, developing and retaining a quality workforce, and supporting job seekers with funds for specialized workshops, classroom training, subsidized employment, and supportive services.
